It has been 10 years…

TEN YEARS, YOU GUYS – since KC Beer Festival has been gracing our fair city. The tenth anniversary edition of the KC Beer Festival is this Saturday, September 15 at 3:00 pm on Grand Boulevard between the Power & Light District and the Sprint Center. General admission tickets are still available.

Personally, I’ve been attending for the past four years and it’s probably (definitely) my favorite beer festival hosted here in Kansas City. You get over 200 craft brews to imbibe, there are food trucks, there are rare beer tappings, there’s entertainment, you are in the middle of the street in downtown KCMO and who doesn’t want to do that at least once in their life without the fear of being run over? Right?

A Bit of History

KC Beer Fest 2017In 2008, KC Beer Fest (aka the BEST festival in KC) was founded by the KC CARE Clinic and the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater KC. In 2013, Flying Saucer KC brought the KC Beer Fest to Downtown KC where it has been living for five beautiful years. What started out inside Power and Light District, moved to Walnut Street and is now ransacking Grand Boulevard.

This year, Flying Saucer is teaming up with Drink Local, Think Global, an awesome organization hell-bent on bringing fresh water wells to third world countries through partnering with the craft beer industry. Speaking of charities, since 2013 the KC Beer Fest has raised over $20,000 for KC Charities.

It’s Saturday, People

Find the author, get a KC Beer Scouts sticker.

This Saturday, September 15, marks the tenth year and I (on behalf of the KC Beer Scouts) would love to see you there! I won’t be wearing my KCBS shirt, so you’ll just have to come up and say hey based on what you think I look like – or my profile picture. IF you do find me and say you read this article, I will give you a KC Beer Scouts official sticker! *Wait for applause*

So, go grab your tickets; either online or at Flying Saucer in the Power and Light District.

We will see you on Saturday!

The awesome people from this blog pretty much adopted me... mostly because I wouldn't leave them alone. I absolutely couldn't image my life without being a part of the craft beer scene; I worked for the government (you can imagine how that went) and wasn't happy at all. I started writing for this website and meeting people in the beer community. Then I quit my well paying and stable job! Now I work with people I enjoy in a job that is fun and opens people's eyes to new things! I wouldn't have gotten here without KC Beer Scouts. They have opened my eyes to weird beers and unique people. Guys, let me tell you, whether you're new to the craft beer scene or an experienced brewer: getting in to craft beer has been one of the most fun and fulfilling things I've ever done. My goal for my reviews is to get people inspired to try new beers they'd never think to try and to get people interested in the craft beer community! Keep this in mind: Everyone is different and unique in their own way; Embrace that.
