Come Drink With Us at Double Shift

The KC Beer Scouts are very proud to announce our first public meeting this Saturday, October 22 at Double Shift Brewing. Come out and join us!

Double Shift Tasting Book

TWO New Beers from Double Shift Brewing

The folks over at Double Shift Brewing in the Crossroads Arts District will release two beers this Saturday and we were asked to become a part of it. First, about the beers: Literally Can’t Even is a Belgian-style quad with graham crackers and spices brewed in. Hocus Bro’cus is an amber, malty lager. Both scream autumn.

We are very excited to try them out. And we want you to join us! Beer Scout jimmywags (that’s me) will be leading two guided beer tastings at Double Shift, one at 2:00 and one at 6:00. When you arrive, you’ll receive a flight of four beers, including Literally Can’t Even and Hocus Bro’cus, and your own copy of the official KC Beer Scouts tasting journal, Field Notes. This is the same book that we use at our meeting to review the beers we sample. (That means you get to fill out your very own Flavor Wave! If that doesn’t get you there, I don’t know what will.)

Guided Beer Tasting

Our guided tasting begins with a full-sensory orientation of how to really drink a beer and savor its complexities. First tip: It takes more than just your tastebuds. We will explore what goes into making beer with a little help from Bryan Stewart, head brewer at Double Shift. Then will start on the beers! The tastings will be a discussion, not a lecture, as we explore and map the flavors and aromas of each of the four pours in the flight. We will field questions and talk brewing, beer, and whatever else is on your mind. Shouldn’t take more than 40 minutes or so.

Tickets

Tickets for the guided beer tasting are only $10. A Hamilton for four locally handcrafted beers, informative beer conversation, and a beer tasting journal! That’s a steal. You can pick up your tickets at Double Shift Brewing during normal business hours. Just ask at the bar.

We hope you can make it out. We love meeting our readers, and this is sure to be a very fun event. Thanks to Double Shift Brewing for the opportunity. And cheers to fall!

I began the path through good beer in college. Exploring different sixers and bombers based on packaging and label design (art student, mind you), I weaved my way around the continental lagers and Colorado craft ales. My knowledge and interest exploded upon receiving a homebrewing equipment kit as a graduation gift from my parents. Twelve years later, I've brewed most styles, experimented between them, and hunted for the perfect pint.
