As many of you know (or maybe you don’t, whatever) I work for Double Shift Brewing Company, but that doesn’t mean I don’t go to other breweries or drink other local brews. In fact, a very close neighbor of ours is Border Brewing Company. We literally share an alley; and since their 2nd anniversary is coming up, I told Head Beer Scout, Jim Wagner, that I wanted to do the article write-up for them. So, I hope I do them proud and get them some well-deserved heavy traffic for their party on Sunday.
Border Brewing Company is a 2-year-old (almost!) brewery killing it in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City. Eric Martens is the owner and head brewer of Border, helping him run this solid brewery is brewer, Kelly Wing, and assistant brewer, Nolan Warn.
Their taproom/brewery is located at the crossroads of 18th and Oak Streets and features an awesome roll up garage door that is open during beautiful weather. The tap room is a perfect place to belly up to the bar and grab a delicious, lovingly-made brew. Highlights of their beer line-up are the Strawberry Blonde Ale (my personal favorite) and Rooftop Red Ale. (Ed. note: Border’s 2017 release schedule is now available.)
I know I’ve already sold you on this place, but their anniversary party is happening THIS Sunday, February 19. Their event will include new beers, free pies, giveaways, a bottle release, and even tappings of reserve kegs of their most recent bottle releases. If you don’t think that sounds like an awesome time, then you should probably just stay home … ya, stay home, more Mint Chocolate Milk Stout for me. Peace & Cheers!
