Fruity Beer… the Way the Ladies Like It.

Full disclosure: I kind of have a thing for the flavor characteristic “tart”. Is it almost unbearably sour? I probably love it. Has that wine been on the shelf too long and turned into vinegar? I’m probably excited about it.

That being said, I can say that I genuinely enjoyed Lindemans Framboise raspberry lambic. It’s pleasing to all senses. As you begin to pour, you immediately experience its sharp, cherryred hue. If you swirl the brew around in your glass, the head quickly dissipates and laces onto the glass. And, if served in the correct glass, you get to enjoy a girly looking flute-type column of bubbly fun!

As I brought the lambic to my face and inhaled, I immediately became giddy with the smell of sour. The sour has strong fragrance of red berry, specifically of a very crisp raspberry (duh) and juicy strawberry. At this point, the tasting is inevitable. My first impression of the flavor was “this is the drink anyone can enjoy.” It tastes very punchy with a strong cranberry jello flavor that I can really appreciate. I thought the sour flavor was enjoyable, and as it is balanced perfectly with the strong sweetness of the fruit, the sour would not be overwhelming to someone with a normal palate.

The mouth feel is very thin and light — perfect for a warm spring or hot summer evening. And as for hearing… well, when I imbibe enough of it, I think the things that I say sound genius, so I suppose that might count.

This beer would be a perfect compliment to a very mundane desert of vanilla bean ice cream and pound cake. Hell, you could just splash some on top of the cake and ice cream! I think this lambic is delish and would be a great option for any level of beer appreciator. The tart flavor profile can appeal to the nerdiest of beer lover, while you could also sub this for your gal’s apple-cosmo-poma-tini, and she might even like it better!

I'm from a small Kansas town where the beer of choice is "The Cheap, Gross One". I was introduced to good beer by my family, which is full of alcohol appreciators. I married an amateur beer brewer last year, and we take every opportunity we can to enjoy a delicious pint. My favorites? St. Louis Gueze Fond Tradition, Duchesse De Bourgogne, New Belgium La Folie, New Belgium Kick... do you see a pattern emerging?
