This beer (?) was described to me as an “Ale with Riesling”… Well, that’s new to me. I’m very much starting on my craft beer journey, so the action of mixing wine and beer is alien.
So as I put my nose to the rim of my glass, I was apprehensive – unsure what to expect. (Which I’ve found to be the best approach to beer tasting.) The smell that hit my nose was that of a floral/funky smell – like Tank 7’s classier sister … Damn you, Tank 7, you keep coming back to haunt me!
As soon as the wine-beer (beer-wine?) hit my lips … Well, it was skunky, hoppy, and bitter. I definitely tasted the wine-y/acidic taste at the beginning and then the taste turned into what I can only describe as a rubber band that had been soaked in old fruit water.
I probably wouldn’t drink this again unless someone bought it for me; and that’s only because you should never turn down a free beer – even if it is Tank 7.
